Schedule and Class Descriptions

Class Descriptions

  • All classes are geared toward adult students, unless otherwise specified. Out of respect for the comfort level of all students, children and teens under the age of 16 are encouraged to attend classes specifically designed for younger yogis.
  • Mixed Level – Appropriate for beginners, experienced beginners, and intermediate students. This is a mixed-level class that includes basic and moderate yoga poses and breathwork. Modifications will be offered in order to accommodate students with different levels of experience.
  • Vinyasa Flow, mixed level — Appropriate for beginners, experienced beginners, and intermediate students. This Vinyasa Flow class is a mixed level class which can provide the less experienced yoga student the opportunity to explore the flowing practice of Vinyasa yoga, while still providing an energetic, challenging practice for the more experienced student.
  • Vinyasa Flow, intermediate – Appropriate for intermediate and advanced students. This Vinyasa Flow class encourages students to link their breath with their movement while flowing from one pose to another, offering students a challenging practice.
  • Meditation & Yoga – Appropriate for all students. This soothing practice includes breathwork techniques and gentle yoga poses, which quiet the body and mind in preparation for meditation. Several brief meditation sessions are interspersed throughout the practice.
  • Gentle – Appropriate for beginners and students with some physical limitations. This class is ideal for beginners, for those students seeking a slower-paced practice, or those recovering from an injury.

NEW TO YOGA?

If you are new to yoga or returning to yoga after being away from the practice for some time, we recommend you start slowly in a Gentle Yoga, Yoga & Meditation, or Mixed Level class, and gradually build up to more challenging classes. If you do not care for the style or pace of the first class you try, don’t give up! There are many styles and types of classes on offer at Into the Blue Yoga, and it may take some experimentation to find the class and teacher that resonates most with you. If you are trying yoga for the first time, it is completely normal to feel a little apprehensive. You do not need to be flexible or athletic to enjoy your first yoga class. Your teacher will help you to feel safe and nurtured in class, and will help you to use the yoga props provided in order to find ease in the yoga poses, no matter your level of experience. And remember, every yoga practitioner who attends classes has experienced many of the same feelings of nervous energy and apprehension. However, there is nothing to fear. The ITBY community of practitioners is a warm, friendly group of people who enjoy welcoming new students to the fold, and our teachers are always honored to guide a new student through their first class. Relax, breathe, and enjoy your time on the mat! With all the benefits this practice has to offer, you are sure to find something you love, even in your first class!
